Seven dead after helicopter crashes in Nepal
Among the deceased was a new-born who was travelling with his mother and grandparents to Kathmandu for medical treatment.
A private chopper crashed in Bhatine Danda area in Nuwakot district of Nepal on Monday, killing all the seven passengers, including a new-born baby, on board, reported PTI. The Fishtail Air 9N-AKA helicopter reportedly lost contact with air traffic control tower soon after it took off from Gorkha.
The new-born baby was travelling with his mother and grandparents to Kathmandu for medical treatment. According to local news channels, the helicopter was sent to a village to pick up the five-day-old infant, reported the Associated Press.
The cause of the crash is not yet known. Ramesh Shiwakoti of the Fishtail Air told PTI, “Without an investigation, we cannot tell what caused the accident.” Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal spokesperson Devendra KC said that a team of Nepal Army and other rescue officials have been deployed at the crash site.
