Supreme Court approves Asaram's request for medical treatment at AIIMS
The apex court directed the All India Institute of Medical Sciences to set up a panel to monitor his condition and submit a report within 10 days.
Self-styled godman Asaram received permission from the Supreme Court on Monday to be taken to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi for treatment. The top court has directed the institute to set up a medical panel to monitor his condition and submit a report within 10 days.
Asaram was was accused of sexually assaulting a minor girl at his Jodhpur ashram in 2013 and was arrested on August 31, 2013. Earlier this month, the court had rejected his bail application, which pleaded his case citing several medical reasons. This was the ninth time his bail application had been turned down.
