Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar on Wednesday summoned Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit in the wake of the September 18 Uri base attack that left 18 soldiers dead. After the meeting, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup said, "We demand that Pakistan lives up to its public commitment of not allowing terror against India."

He said that the attack on the Army base shows that the terror machinery in Pakistan is still thriving. Swarup said, "We have recovered a number of items like Pak mark grenades, communication equipment and food and medicines made in Pakistan." He said that Basit was also informed that two encounters between militants and Indian army personnel are underway at near the Line of Control.

According to NDTV, Jaishankar told Basit that India "is ready to provide fingerprints and DNA samples of terrorists killed in the Uri and Poonch incidents."

The ministry also said that beginning with the Pathankot airbase attack, there have been continuous attempts by militants to cross the Line of Control and international borders. India believes both the Uri and Pathankot attacks were orchestrated by the Pakistan-based Jaish-e Mohammad outfit.
