The bureaucrat who committed suicide along with his son on Tuesday over bribery charges has left notes accusing the Central Bureau of Investigation officials of wrongdoing in connection with the case against him, reported ANI. BK Bansal was the director general of corporate affairs before he was arrested for taking a bribe of Rs 9 lakh from a Mumbai-based pharmaceutical firm.

In his note, Bansal alleged that a Deputy Inspector-General of the CBI along with two women officers and a constable tortured his wife and daughter after which they committed suicide, according to The Indian Express. The former bureaucrat said the DIG also claimed to be close to a politician from a ruling party. In the second note, Bansal's son Yogesh accused another CBI officer of "mentally and physically" torturing him, and said that led to his suicide.

The CBI said it had received the notes from the Delhi Police, and that it had decided to investigate the allegations after examining them. The agency said strict action would be taken against any officer found guilty of any violation. Relevant courts will also be informed about the matter, it said.

Bansal had visited the CBI headquarters in New Delhi to deliver some documents hours before he committed suicide, Hindustan Times reported. Agency officials said Yogesh was neither an accused in the bribery case, nor had he been summoned by them for questioning.

Mumbai-based Elder Pharmaceuticals had allegedly approached Bansal to stop an investigation ordered into allegations that the firm had cheated 24,000 investors of Rs 176 crore. Bansal was caught by CBI officials while taking the bribe. Three others were arrested along with him, and produced before a Delhi court. He was granted bail in August.
