Several civilians were injured in a grenade attack that targeted a paramilitary convoy in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district on Tuesday, NDTV reported. Officials said the grenade was aimed at a Central Police Reserve Force convoy on the road.

There have been conflicting reports about the number of casualties. Seven civilians and one CRPF jawan were reportedly injured in the attack, according to an NDTV report. An ANI post, however, pegs the number of victims at six, including two CRPF jawans.

On October 7, militants attacked a security post in the Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir, leaving at least one police officer dead, and an officer and a civilian injured. The Valley's Pampore area is still under siege after militants struck a government building there on Monday.

The Kashmir Valley has been tense since July 8, when Indian forces killed Hizbul Mujahideen militant Burhan Wani. More than 90 people have died in the unrest, and relations between India and Pakistan have deteriorated. The violence has been made worse by the attacks in Kashmir’s Uri on September 18, in which four militants from across the border left 19 Indian soldiers dead.
