Earthquake of 5.5 magnitude hits Tripura
Mild tremors were felt in neighbouring states and Bangaladesh.
An earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale hit Tripura on Tuesday afternoon, reported ANI. The epicentre of the quake was located around 19 km north east of Ambassa.
Tremors were felt in the state’s largest city of Agartala, while mild tremors were felt in Guwahati in the neighbouring state of Assam. Tremors were also felt in Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh, reported The Daily Star. The earthquake was felt around 2.42 pm (IST). The US Geological Survey said the earthquake had a depth of 36.1 km.
