Pakistani woman killed after crossing border fence in Jammu: BSF
The paramilitary force said another intruder had been arrested near the international fence and was being interrogated.
Border Security Force on Friday said they had killed a Pakistani intruder after she had defied their orders and crossed over the International border in Jammu’s Akhnoor, IANS reported. The paramilitary force officials said another Pakistani national had been arrested and was being interrogated for “moving in a suspicious manner” near the border fence in Kathua, PTI reported.
“The intruder was repeatedly challenged but she ignored all warnings and crossed the border. Troops then fired to foil the intrusion,” Dharmender Pareek, BSF Deputy Inspector General in Jammu told IANS. The BSF said photographs of her corpse were sent to the Pakistani Rangers, who identified her as 40-year-old Rashida Begum. Indian officials told the news agency that she may have been ordered to gauge security arrangements.
“They [Pakistani Rangers] confirmed that the woman belonged to one of the villages in their country and was missing since Thursday. They said she had left her home after a dispute with her family and had crossed the border by mistake,” Pareek said.
