Indian climber Ravi Kumar’s body was spotted during a search and rescue operation on Monday, AP reported. Officials said he is the fourth person to have died in the “death zone” of the world’s highest mountain during the weekend. Most of the deaths reported are suspected to have been triggered by altitude sickness.

The rescue team members are gauging the risk involved in retrieving his body.

The 27-year-old had reportedly reached the summit on Saturday but lost contact with the base after that. “A search and rescue team has seen his body,” Thupden Sherpa of Arun Treks and Expeditions told AFP. Kumar is believed to have fallen on his way down. His Nepali guide sustained severe frostbite but managed to reach Camp 4.

On Sunday, American doctor, Roland Yearwood and Slovak climber Vladimir Strba died while trying to scale the mountain. The Tibet Mountaineering Association said an Australian climber also died on the Tibet side of the peak.

In April, Swiss climber Ueli Steck died while he was on an acclimatisation climb and 85-year-old Min Bahadur Sherchan died in May while trying to reclaim his title as the world’s oldest person to summit Everest.
