Bihar: Senior RJD leader gets life term for the murder of an MLA in 1995
The four-time MP is believed to be close to Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad Yadav.
Senior Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Prabhunath Singh was sentenced to life term in prison by a Hazaribagh court on Tuesday for the murder of a legislator in 1995, ANI reported. His brother Dinanath Singh and former head of a local council Ritesh Singh were also convicted of killing Masrakh MLA Ashok Singh.
“We have fought against the entire system for years,” said Ashok Singh’s wife Chandni Devi. “Prabhunath Singh tried to buy us off. He also put pressure on me and threatened me, but money does not work every time.” The legislator was shot dead in his official residence in 1995.
Both the Singh brothers were arrested after they were convicted on May 18. They are lodged in Hazaribagh Central Jail. Prabhunath Singh, a four-time MP, is believed to be close to RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, reported News18.
