Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav on Thursday denied that his security had manhandled mediapersons on his instructions during an event in Patna on Wednesday. Although he accused the media of starting the scuffle, he said the matter will be investigated, DNA reported.

The incident took place as Yadav was to address the media after a Bihar Cabinet meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, was held to discuss the corruption case against him.

“There is misleading information about an attack on media persons. On their request, I patiently waited about five to seven minutes so that they stop meddling (sic) with each other out of competition. However, that was in vein (sic),” Yadav said in a Facebook post on Thursday.

Yadav said he understood the difficulty of their jobs, but pointed out that microphones shoved towards him had brushed his ears and head and nearly hit his nose multiple times. He defended his security team, saying they were only protecting him from harm.
