A massive landslide took place on the Chandigarh-Shimla National Highway on Saturday afternoon, burying vehicles near Dhalli Tunnel. No casualties have been reported so far.

A video shows a part of the hill collapsing on vehicles parked on the roadside, and pushing some cars off the cliff. It also damaged a part of a building located on the opposite side. Traffic in the area, which is about eight kilometre from Shimla, has been hit and diverted via Sanjauli.

“The people who were stuck in houses were rescued,” the deputy superintendent of police, Shimla, told ANI. “Two or three empty cars are still under the debris.”

On August 13, a massive landslide had buried two Himachal Pradesh roadway buses at Kotpuri near Padhar on the Mandi–Pathankot national highway, killing nearly 50 people and injuring several others. It had been triggered by a cloudburst.
