Former German actress accuses director Roman Polanski of rape
In a complaint to the Swiss Police, the woman said she was sexually assaulted in 1972 when she was 15 years old.
A former German actress and model has accused film director Roman Polanski of raping her, Reuters reported on Wednesday. The woman told the Swiss Police last week that he raped her at his mountain chalet in 1972 when she was 15, said local prosecutors.
She told The New York Times that she was making the allegations now because she was afraid of how parents would react. Both her parents are now dead.
She is the fourth woman to publicly accuse the 84-year-old French-Polish filmmaker of sexual assault. Polanski’s lawyer said he was aware of the latest allegation, and dismissed it as an “absurd attempt” to generate media attention.
Prosecutors are yet to file charges against Polanski in this case. Switzerland allows prosecution in old cases of sexual abuse against children younger than 12 years old.
