Honeypreet Insan, the adopted daughter of jailed religious leader Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, is not cooperating with the police during interrogation, Panchkula Police Commissioner AS Chawla said on Thursday, according to ANI.

Chawla said the police may ask the court to extend Honeypreet Insan’s custody if she continued to stonewall them. A Panchkula court had sent her to six-day police remand on Wednesday. “Honeypreet is not co-operating as desired. If this continues, we’ll ask for further remand,” ANI quoted Chawla as saying.

The Dera Sacha Sauda chief’s adopted daughter had been missing for over a month before was arrested in Punjab on Tuesday. Police Commissioner Chawla said the person who helped them find Honeypreet Insan’s location was also being interrogated.

Her arrest came hours after she told a television news channel from an undisclosed location that she would seek legal advice on whether to surrender to the police. She claimed that she “went into depression” after the Dera Sacha Sauda chief’s conviction in a rape case in August.

Honeypreet Insan is facing charges of inciting violence after Singh’s conviction. She has also been accused of sedition for allegedly plotting to help him escape after his conviction.
