Rajasthan implements 7th Pay Commission’s recommendations
The government’s announcement comes ahead of the bye-polls to the Lok Sabha constituencies of Alwar and Ajmer.
The Vasundhara Raje-led Rajasthan government has decided to implement the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission, a decision that will benefit over 12 lakh employees and pensioners, The Indian Express reported on Wednesday. The employees will draw the revised salary from November.
The government’s announcement comes ahead of the bye-polls to the Lok Sabha constituencies of Alwar and Ajmer. The state is also scheduled to hold the Assembly election next year.
On Tuesday, Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje said that she had promised to implement the pay panel’s recommendations in the 2017-’18 Budget. In February, the government appointed a three-member committee to study and implement the panel’s recommendations for the state.
In June, the Centre approved the pay panel’s recommendations on allowances with 34 modifications. The move is expected benefit more than 47 lakh Central government employees and result in a “modest increase of Rs 1448.23 crore per annum” over the pay commission’s projections.
