Prime Minister Narendra Modi and visiting Afghan President Ashraf Ghani on Tuesday discussed several bilateral, regional and global issues and expressed “firm resolve” to end terrorism, PTI reported.

Ghani, who was in New Delhi on a one-day visit, met Modi, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and President Ram Nath Kovind.

The Afghan leader said terrorism was a far greater threat today than in 2001. He said the distinction between “good terrorism” and “bad terrorism” still haunted his country, which has seen multiple terror attacks in the past week. To cope with the terror attacks in Afghanistan, “you need to put a piece of stone in your chest” instead of a heart, he said.

Earlier, President Ram Nath Kovind said that initiatives to bring peace in Afghanistan should be led and controlled by Afghans. Condemning the recent attacks in Afghanistan, he said India itself had been a victim of state-sponsored, cross-border terrorism for decades.
