Two arrested in Kanpur for selling balloons with ‘I Love Pakistan’ on them
Superintendent of Police Ashok Verma said a team was sent to Delhi’s Sadar Bazar, from where the duo claimed to have bought the balloons.
Two people were arrested in Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur district for allegedly selling balloons with “I Love Pakistan” on them, PTI reported on Thursday. The balloons were being sold at a grocery store near Govind Nagar Police Station.
A lawyer associated with the Hindu Yuva Vahini had first noticed the balloons in the market and informed the police, Kanpur Superintendent of Police (South) Ashok Verma told PTI. The police then raided the store and seized balloons with “I Love Pakistan” and “Habibi” on them.
The retail vendor and supplier, identified as Sunny and Sameer Vig, were arrested, Verma said. The duo claimed they had bought the balloons from Gubbarey Wali Gali in Delhi’s Sadar Bazar, the Capital’s biggest and oldest wholesale market. A police team has been sent to the market for further investigation.
“Traders with stock of such balloons are being raided across the city,” Verma was quoted as saying by CNN-News18.
