NIA to take over investigation into Jet Airways’ hijack threat
The Delhi-bound flight from Mumbai was diverted to Ahmedabad after a note was found in the aircraft’s toilet.
The National Investigation Agency will investigate the case relating to the hijack threat on a Jet Airways flight on October 30.
A Delhi-bound Jet Airways flight from Mumbai was diverted to Ahmedabad after a note with a hijack threat was found in the aircraft’s toilet.
One man – identified as Salla Birju – was arrested the same day. Birju is believed to have confessed that he had kept the note in the aircraft to destabilise the airline’s operations.
According to security agencies, the note said: “The aircraft is covered by hijackers, should not land in Delhi, should be flown straight to PoK [Pakistan-occupied Kashmir].”
