India’s Manushi Chhillar on Saturday was titled Miss World 2017, 17 years after Priyanka Chopra won the title in 2000. Chhillar is only the sixth Indian to have won the title.

Chhillar had competed against contestants from 108 nations at the event held at Sanya City Arena in China. Stephanie Hill of England was titled the first runner up, while Miss Mexico Andrea Meza was the second runner up.

Chhillar, who is from Haryana, had won the Femina Miss India 2017 earlier this year. Chhillar also won the Beauty with a Purpose award at the event earlier on Saturday.

“I still can’t believe that I have won the Miss World title,” she told Femina. “I am very happy for the support of my family, friends and fans that supported me through this journey....This wouldn’t have been possible without the support of my well-wishers.”
