Police arrested a 56-year-old Army colonel on Wednesday for allegedly raping the daughter of a lieutenant colonel posted at the Army Training Command in Shimla, PTI reported. The 21-year-old woman had filed a complaint on Monday.

Shimla Superintendent of Police Soumya Sambasivan said that a First Information Report had been registered and the colonel arrested, but refused to reveal his identity. “We are investigating the case. The statements will be recorded on Thursday,” Sambasivan told the Hindustan Times.

The woman has been medically examined, police said. The accused will be produced in court on Thursday.
