Dileep named as the eighth accused in new chargesheet in Malayalam actor’s abduction case
It says there is circumstantial evidence that Dileep had conspired with the prime accused Pulsar Suni to abduct and sexually assault the woman.
Malayalam actor Dilip was named as the eighth accused in a supplementary chargesheet filed on Wednesday by the Special Investigation Team looking into the abduction of an actress in February, PTI reported. The first chargesheet filed in the case in April had named seven accused.
Key suspect Pulsar Suni remains the first accused, while five new individuals, including Dileep, were named in the supplementary chargesheet. The chargesheet, which runs over 1,500 pages, was submitted in a court in Angamaly in Ernakulam district.
According to the chargesheet, there is circumstantial evidence that actor Dileep had conspired with Suni to abduct and sexually assault the actress, The Times of India reported. He has reportedly been booked under 17 sections of the Indian Penal Code.
Dileep’s ex-wife Manju Warrier and current wife Kavya Madhavan have been named among 355 witnesses.
The case
On February 17, a group of men allegedly waylaid the woman’s vehicle in Ernakulam’s Angamaly. They were then said to have taken photos of her to blackmail her with as they assaulted her and later fled with the car.
Reports said that Dileep, who was arrested in July, had planned the attack on the actress as payback for a personal grudge. Several artists from the film industry have condemned him and have supported the woman.
Dileep was granted bail on October 3.
