Mumbai: Suburban rail services hit as fog envelops the city, commuters protest
Trains were delayed as visibility was poor.

Dense fog enveloped parts of Mumbai on Saturday morning, as a result of which visibility was poor and suburban rail services were hit. Trains were running more than 30 minutes late.
Angry commuters at Vasind railway station on the central line protested and blocked both tracks.

Commuters alleged that long-distance trains were given precedence over local trains. President of Karjat-Kasara Passengers Association, Rajesh Ghanghav, told Hindustan Times that the protestors let the rail traffic to resume only after they got a written assurance from railway officials that local trains would run as per schedule.
Central Railway’s Chief Public Relations Officer Sunil Udasi said trains were late as visibility was very poor. “In this kind of situation, people should cooperate rather than stage rail roko,” he told Hindustan Times. He also denied claims that long-distance trains were prioritised over subruban railway.
Several Twitter users shared images of the dense fog in Mumbai.
