The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Wednesday deferred to January 11 its hearing of the stalking case against Vikas Barala, the son of Haryana Bharatiya Janata Party President Subhash Barala, and his friend Ashish Kumar, ANI reported

Vikas and Kumar were arrested on August 9 for allegedly stalking and trying to abduct Varnika Kundu, the daughter of an IAS officer, in Chandigarh on August 5.

The court on Wednesday also asked the Chandigarh police to provide it with the call log details from Vikas’ phone.

On August 5, Vikas and Kumar allegedly chased Kundu in an SUV, while she was driving to Panchkula from Chandigarh. A medical examination found both men were drunk. Both denied they intended to abduct her.

On August 29, the court denied them bail in the case, and in October, it framed charges of abduction against Vikas Barala and Kumar.

Earlier this month, the court allowed Vikas to write an examination on December 18 under police supervision, but refused to grant him bail till its next hearing on December 20, NDTV reported.
