The Raipur Police in Chhattisgarh on Tuesday night arrested four men for allegedly raping a 24-year-old widow in the city’s Kapa locality on December 23. Three of the men allegedly raped the woman after driving the fourth away when they found him sexually assaulting her, PTI reported on Wednesday.
The four accused were identified as Suresh Sahu, Trinath Mahanand, Harish Chandrakar and Vinay Yadav.
A preliminary investigation found that the woman was in a relationship with Sahu, who allegedly raped her near a railway yard in the Kapa locality. The other three heard her scream and threatened Sahu, who fled. The three men then allegedly raped her, too, a police officer said.
The 24-year-old filed a complaint at the Pandri Police Station on Sunday. The police filed charges under Section 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code.
