A 23-year-old man died in Delhi while taking a selfie with a loaded pistol. Prashant Chauhan, a teacher at a government school in Uttar Pradesh’s Shahdara, was in Delhi to visit his aunt, the The Indian Express quoted a police officer as saying.

The accident took place when Chauhan and his aunt’s 17-year-old son started taking photos and selfies with the pistol. “The 17-year-old was holding the weapon and accidentally pressed the trigger,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East) Chinmoy Biswal told the Hindustan Times.

Biswal said the teenager has been apprehended and a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code was registered against him at the Sarita Vihar police station.

“The pistol belongs to the minor’s father,” said Biswal, adding that the police will take action against the father for allowing his son to use a loaded pistol.
