The Central Board of Secondary Education on Monday announced that it would ensure that students who were confused by an error in the Class 10 English board examination question paper are compensated when their answer sheets are marked, The Times of India reported.

“It was a typo error which led to the confusion and it is certainly in our notice,” the board’s Controller of Examinations KK Choudhury told the newspaper. “We have decided not to put any student on disadvantage. The students will be benefited definitely and it will be taken care of at the time of marking scheme to be prepared by the board.”

Choudhury dismissed speculation that the board had decided to award two marks to students for the error in the examination, which was held on March 12.

Students had to read a passage and write the synonyms for the words endurance, obstruction, and motivation. But the paragraphs they were supposed to look at were incorrectly marked. This had caused a lot of confusion among them and their teachers.
