US man sentenced to 60 years in prison for trying to sell his four-year-old daughter online
Andrew Turley posted an advertisement titled ‘Play with Daddie’s Little Girl’ and told undercover police officers he will charge $1,000 for two hours.
A court in the US state of Texas on Friday sentenced a man to 60 years in prison for trying to sell his 4-year-old daughter online in 2015.
Andrew Turley, 30, was convicted of “trafficking a child and compelling prostitution of someone under the age of 18,” the Houston Chronicle reported. Turley posted the advertisement, “Play with Daddie’s Little Girl”, on classifieds website Craigslist in 2015. The Houston Police Department tracked it and started emailing Turley.
In several emails, Turley described his daughter as “younger than 10” while arranging for a meeting with the police officers who were posing as potential clients, The Washington Post quoted the Harris County district attorney’s office as saying.
He said he will charge $1,000 (approximately Rs 65,000) for two hours and would give the child sleep medication. In the emails, Turley said his daughter “might be too young for intercourse but everything else is OK”.
Turley was arrested in November 2015, after an undercover officer reached his Houston apartment where the child was living with her mother.
“Turley checked the cash from the officer, then escorted him to a bedroom where the girl was lying in bed and appeared to be under the influence of an unknown substance,” the attorney’s office said, according to Fox News.
Turley was sentenced to 30 years each on the two charges and will not be eligible for parole until he’s 75.
