Seven people were injured after a portion of a chawl adjoining Rasool Masjid in Mumbai’s Govandi area collapsed on Sunday, The Hindu reported. “The entire first floor of the structure in Rafi Nagar, Govandi, collapsed around 6 pm,” unidentified officials at the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation told the newspaper.

Two fire engines and an ambulance were deployed for rescue operations, NDTV reported. The police and a rescue team was also called in.

The injured were taken to a local hospital and are in a stable condition.

Seventeen people had died in July 2017 after a 35-year-old four-storey building in Mumbai’s Ghatkopar collapsed.
