The Delhi police’s crime branch on Monday arrested four more people for their alleged involvement in the Staff Selection Commission exam paper leak, PTI reported.

The commission conducts exams for recruitment to the central government’s various departments, and the leak came to light after thousands of students protested in Delhi against “mass cheating” during the exam.

The police identified the arrested men as Anup, Neeraj, Kushal Negi and Dured Ali, and said they allegedly arranged for internet connectivity for candidates taking the exam, downloaded a software that gives them access to the candidates’ systems and helped the candidates cheat.

The police said Ali was the owner of one of the computer laboratories where the examination was conducted. The commission conducts its exams online, and the exams are held in private computer laboratories across the country.

On March 27, the police had arrested four other people and found that they allegedly hacked into the systems of the Staff Selection Commission, leaked the question paper and helped candidates solve them. These four men allegedly took remote access of candidates’ computers and helped them in the exam.

The arrests come after weeks of protests by job aspirants who alleged “mass cheating” in the SSC exams and claimed that the questions for an examination conducted on February 21 were leaked. The government has ordered an inquiry by the Central Bureau of Investigation.
