A man allegedly shot dead a singer on Tuesday night in Pakistan’s Sindh province because she refused to stand up while singing, Dawn reported. Twenty-four-year-old Samina Samoon was six months pregnant, her husband said.
The incident took place in Kanga village near Larkana city when Samoon was performing at a wedding, according to Geo News. The gunman, identified as Tarique Ahmed Jatoi, asked her to stand up and dance as she sang, and when she refused to comply, shot her dead. Jatoi was allegedly drunk.
The singer was taken to a hospital but was soon declared dead. Her husband demanded that Jatoi and two of his accomplices be charged for double murder as the woman was pregnant.
Jatoi has been arrested, and the police are investigating the matter.
