The Delhi High Court on Wednesday asked the Centre, the Delhi government and the Assembly to respond to a plea seeking to quash a resolution that the House passed on March 26, directing the AAP government to present a status report on files that have been delayed or blocked by Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal’s office, PTI reported.

The bench asked the respondents whether the judiciary could interfere with the proceedings of the House.

Bharatiya Janata Party legislators Vijender Gupta, Om Prakash Sharma, Jagdish Pradhan and Manjinder Singh Sirsa filed the plea. They claimed that such a resolution violates a rule on the conduct of business in the legislative Assembly that bars a member from reflecting on the conduct of the lieutenant governor.

In the resolution, AAP MLA Sourabh Bharadwaj had cited several media reports blaming the lieutenant governor’s office for delay and roadblocks in the execution of various projects.

The court listed the matter for further hearing on October 8.
