Ola cab driver’s friend allegedly rapes woman passenger in Greater Noida
Police have filed a case against the driver and his friend, but have not arrested them yet.
The police have filed a case against a man for allegedly raping a 25-year-old woman who was travelling in his friend’s Ola cab in Greater Noida on Thursday night, reported The Times of India. The cab driver was also booked. Neither of them have been arrested yet.
The incident allegedly took place after the woman booked the cab from Sector 126 in Noida to Surajpur locality in Greater Noida. “The driver Ashok had reached for the pick-up,” Shailendra Pratap Singh, the station officer at Jarcha police station, told The Times of India. “The woman got inside the cab and Ashok drove away to Greater Noida.”
He reportedly parked the vehicle at a deserted location near Jarcha village in Greater Noida and went away. Another man named Praveen then came and raped her, the woman told the police. Other reports claimed that Praveen was already in the cab when the woman boarded the vehicle.
“We have launched a search to arrest the person involved in the crime,” Singh said. The police have detained four people for questioning and the woman has been sent for a medical examination, reported NDTV.
