Jammu and Kashmir: Tourist dies after being injured allegedly in stone pelting

A tourist from Tamil Nadu died on Monday after allegedly suffering injuries during protests near Srinagar, PTI reported.
R Thirumani, 22, died after suffering a head injury earlier in the day. Thirumani was part of a group that was caught in stone pelting and protests in Narbal, just outside Srinagar, Greater Kashmir reported a police official as saying. He was from Chennai.
Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti met Thirumani’s family at the hospital, according to an official spokesperson, while separatist leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq condemned the incident.
Separatists had on Monday called for a shutdown against the killing of five civilian protestors in South Kashmir.
On May 2, two children were injured when protesters threw stones at their school bus in Shopian district. Their bus had been carrying more than 50 students.
