Three militants were killed on Friday in a gunfight at Brinjal forest area of Vilgam in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district, GNS Kashmir reported quoting the Indian Army.
An unidentified Army official told GNS Kashmir that soldiers of 15 RR intercepted a group of militants believed to be infiltrators at Brinjal forest adjacent to Shahnagar Jat Gali. “The group of militants opened fire upon the forces which were retaliated by the troops triggering a gunfight,” the official said. “The militants fired indiscriminately and in the gunfight that ensued, three infiltrators were gunned down.” The official said the operation was under way.
Earlier in the day, a Border Security Force officer and four civilians were killed during suspected firing by Pakistan along the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir’s RS Pura sector.
