Heavy rain likely in parts of Goa, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Konkan region, says Met department
The weather agency also predicted thunderstorm and squalls in parts of Chandigarh, Haryana, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.
The India Meteorological Department predicted heavy to very heavy rain on Monday in a few places in the Konkan region, Goa, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and coastal Karnataka. The weather agency also predicted thunderstorm and squalls in parts of Chandigarh, Haryana, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.
The India Meteorological Department in its bulletin on Monday said rainfall is likely to reduce over the interiors of southern, central and eastern India. However, heavy rain over the northeastern states is likely to continue over the next three days, the agency said.
“The further advance of the southwest monsoon has weakened,” said the Met department’s Additional Director-General Mritunjay Mohapatra, according to The Economic Times. “It was very active until June 15, but there is a lull now. However, it expected to revive in the next five to six days.”
Heatwave conditions are likely to continue over coastal Andhra Pradesh and parts of Bihar, West Bengal, Jharkhand and Odisha.
