Jaipur: Man arrested for allegedly making hoax bomb threat call to IndiGo
Mohit Kumar Tank reportedly made the call as he was late for his flight.
A man was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly making a hoax bomb threat call to IndiGo, reported the Hindustan Times. Mohit Kumar Tank reportedly called up the airlines’ call centre, and said there was a bomb on its Jaipur-Mumbai flight.
Tank made the call around 5.30 am, following which IndiGo officials reported the matter to Bomb Threat Assessment Committee. After investigation, the authorities declared the call a hoax at 9.45 am.
“IndiGo call centre received a call around 5.30 am this morning from an unidentified person mentioning a bomb threat to 6E 218 operating a Jaipur-Mumbai flight,” the airlines said in a statement. “We immediately reported the matter to Bomb Threat Assessment Committee and followed all laid down security protocols. Following the clearance by the authorities, operations resumed as normal.”
Tank, who is a choreographer with a dance reality show, reportedly made the call as he was late and missed his flight. “The airline later called up this particular passenger who had missed the flight and assured him that he would get a ticket for the next flight,” an unidentified IndiGo official told the Hindustan Times. “As soon as he reached Jaipur airport, CISF [Central Industrial Security Force] questioned him and he confessed to have made the call. He was handed over to the Sanganer police for further interrogation.”
