Chennai: DMK leader MK Stalin detained along with party cadre for protesting against state governor
Stalin has criticised the governor for interfering in the administration of Tamil Nadu’s affairs.
Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam working president MK Stalin was detained on Saturday, along with 400 party workers, during a protest outside Raj Bhavan in Chennai.
They were protesting for the release of more than 192 party cadres, who were arrested in Tiruchirapalli city on Friday for raising black flags during Governor Banwarilal Purohit’s visit to the city, The Indian Express reported.
Stalin has criticised the governor for interfering in the administration of the state’s affairs. “DMK has a history of showing black flags to many leaders, including Indira Gandhi, but never were cadres arrested,” Stalin told ANI. “We want the governor to resign.”
The DMK leader said Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and his deputy O Panneerselvam did not oppose the governor as they were “afraid that their corruptions will be exposed”, ANI reported.
