An earthquake of 4.0-magnitude hit Sonipat district in Haryana on Sunday evening, according to the India Meteorological Department. Mild tremors were felt in adjoining areas of Delhi-National Capital Region and in Uttar Pradesh.
There were no immediate reports of any casualty or details on the epicentre of the quake. The tremors lasted a few seconds.
The epicentre was located at 28.9 degrees North latitude and 77 degrees East longitude, at a depth of 5 km.
