A teenager has accused the father of her childhood friend of raping her at his Gurugram home early on Friday. A court sent the 45-year-old businessman to 14 days’ judicial custody on Saturday. The friend of the 18-year-old woman accompanied her to the police station and said her father should be punished, The Times of India reported.

The complainant, a law student, told the police that the man seemed to have planned the rape because he had forced her to consume liquor with dinner the previous night, according to the Hindustan Times. The incident took place when she was staying over at her friend’s home at night.

“My mother gave me permission to go out for dinner because my friend’s father was coming with us,” she told police, according to the First Information Report. “She thought it would be safe.”

The woman was sleeping next to her friend in her bedroom, when the accused allegedly pulled her into his room and raped her. “I could not understand as I panicked,” the FIR quoted her as saying. “He locked the room, gagged me with his hand and forced himself on me. He then threatened to kill me if I told anyone.”

She said: “I realised that uncle [the accused] had planned the whole thing, which is why he made us consume hard drinks.”

The wife of the accused had recently filed a complaint against him for cruelty, Poonam Hooda, station house officer at the women’s police station, told the Hindustan Times. No case was filed.
