Five people were arrested for allegedly trafficking and raping a 16-year-old girl in New Delhi, the police said on Saturday. The teenager was rescued on Friday, reported The Times of India.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (outer) Seju Kuruvilla said Abhishek, Ravi, Rinki, Rohit and Mukesh were arrested while the police are still looking for three more people. The police said the girl ran away with her 18-year-old Abhishek on June 30. They went to Haridwar, where he allegedly sexually assaulted her. The same day, her family registered a case of kidnapping in Sultanpuri, reported PTI.

Four days later, the two returned to Delhi where they met Ravi. He promised Abhishek a job and took them to his house in Ghaziabad. The next day, he took Abhishek out and left him in Gurugram. At night, Ravi allegedly raped the girl when his live-in partner, Rinki, was away.

When the girl narrated the incident to Rinki the next day, she was given food laced with sedatives and was passed on to two traffickers, Intezar and Heena, who are still absconding, reported The Times of India.

The girl was then taken to Rohini and sold to Ashok Goyal, who runs a spa and massage parlour. Goyal confined her there with the help of his two associates, Rohit and Mukesh, reported PTI. Later, he allegedly raped her and forced her to spend time with his clients, said Kuruvilla.

The girl was brought to the police station after she contacted her mother and told her she was in Rohini. Kuruvilla said she underwent a medical examination and her statement was recorded.

Abhishek was the first to be arrested. He admitted to sexually assaulting the teenager. Ravi and Rinki, who were arrested from their house in Ghaziabad, also confessed to selling the girl, said Kuruvilla. The police teams then arrested Rohit and Mukesh from the spa centre. Goyal is still absconding.
