Film and TV actress Sujata Kumar dies of cancer
Sujata Kumar’s credits include ‘English Vinglish’ and the TV series ‘24’.

Film and television actress Sujata Kumar died in Mumbai on Sunday after a battle with fourth stage cancer. Her sister, actor and singer Suchitra Krishnamoorthi, confirmed the news in a post on Twitter. Some entertainment websites put her age at 53.
Our beloved Sujata Kumar has passed away and moved on to a better place leaving us with an umimaginable void. She left us an hour ago at 11.26 pm on the 19th of august 2018..Life can never be the same again ...

Among Kumar’s best-known roles is Manu, the sister of Sridevi’s character Shashi in Gauri Shinde’s English Vinglish (2012). Kumar also featured in the films Gori Tere Pyar Mein (2013) and Raanjhanaa (2013). She was a part of television series such as Hotel Kingston (2005), Bombay Talking (2005), 24 (2013) and POW: Bandi Yuddh Ke (2016-17).
In an interview to Mid-Day before the release of English Vinglish, Kumar said that she made her acting debut late in life: “I had my portfolio done and began modelling. I had friends in the media who put me on to production houses.”
