Four people were killed and five severely injured after temporary iron fixtures around an under-construction building collapsed in Noida’s Sector 94 on Sunday, PTI reported quoting the police. The incident took place when a sand-laden tractor trolley reportedly hit the temporary fixtures.

The incident took place at the BPTP’s 18-storey Capital City. A First Information Report has been registered at the Sector 39 police station. “Nine people were injured when the shuttering of the building collapsed,” said Senior Superintendent of Police Ajay Pal Sharma. “Four of them have died while five others have been hospitalised.”

The labourers were wearing helmets but had no safety harness. The local administration has assured compensation to the families of the deceased after an inquiry into the incident is conducted. “[The] Police are probing the matter and after that, due compensation will be given to the families of the victims as per the Wages Act,” City Magistrate Shalender Mishra told PTI.

The private real estate company, BPTP passed the buck to Ahulawalia Contractors (I) Ltd that was responsible for all statutory compliance. “As informed by Ahluwalia Contracts, the incident occurred when the tractor trolley carrying sand hit the shuttering material,” Rohit Mohan, the media in-charge for BPTP, said. “As we understand, they are already in touch with the authorities concerned regarding the incident.”
