J&K: CRPF soldier, four-year-old boy killed in militant attack in Anantnag, say police
Suspected militants fired at a CRPF party deployed near Padshahi Bagh area of Bijbehara.
A Central Reserve Police Force soldier and a four-year-old boy were killed on Friday after suspected militants fired at a security forces party in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir, PTI reported.
The incident occurred around 12.15 pm when the suspected militants fired upon the CRPF party at Bijbehara, Anantnag, resulting in injuries to a CRPF personnel and a minor boy, the police said in a statement.
Both of them were taken to the hospital where they succumbed to their injuries. The boy, identified as Nehan Yawar, was a resident of Machwa Yaripora, Kulgam, the police added.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the law and an investigation is underway to establish the full circumstances of the incident, the police said. The area was cordoned off.
This came two days after a CRPF soldier was killed in a gunfight with suspected militants in Pulwama district on Tuesday. Two suspected militants had also died in the gunfight.
Earlier in the day, three suspected militants killed in a gunfight with security forces in Chewa Ular area of Tral. The Valley has seen an increase in anti-militancy operations. Last week, Jammu and Kashmir Police chief Dilbag Singh had said that over 100 militants have been killed since the beginning of this year.
