A documentary, a sequel to an animated movie, and a suspense thriller – talk about choices.
He Named Me Malala
American filmmaker David Guggenheim (An Inconvenient Truth, Waiting for ‘Superman’) brings to the screen the story of the world’s youngest Nobel Laureate.
Malala Yousafzai had to flee her home in the Swat Valley in Pakistan in 2012 after she was shot in the head by the Taliban for speaking out against the destruction of schooling facilities for girls in the region. The Yousafzais relocated to Birmingham in the United Kingdom, from where Malala now travels the world to give lectures and attend events on education. The documentary has been inspired by the young activist’s memoir, I Am Malala.
Charlie Kay Chakkar Mein
This suspense thriller stars Naseeruddin Shah, Amit Sial and Anand Tiwari.
Directed by Manish Srivastav (he has previously made Go), the plot is about a crime that has been captured by closed circuit cameras. It should be an open and shut case, but the truth, apparently, is elusive and relative.
Hotel Transylvania 2
Adam Sandler is back as the voice of Dracula, who ran a strictly-for-monsters establishment that was seriously disrupted by the presence of a human in part one.
In the sequel, the human disruptor is Dracula’s son-in-law and a baby has been born, raising inevitable arguments about parenting styles.
