The reunion of Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol after a mere gap of five years (they were last seen together in My Name is Khan) drives the trailer of Rohit Shetty’s Dilwale, which opens on December 12. Shetty has taken his time with the trailer, which comes out weeks after the other movie opening on the same date, Bajirao Mastani, declared its intention to conquer the box office.
Co-produced by Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment and Rohit Shetty Productions, Dilwale promises to be a bright and busy action thriller full of exploding cars that is aimed at family audiences – in short, every movie Shetty has made in recent years. Khan and Kajol are lovers, Varun Dhawan plays Khan’s younger brother, Kriti Sanon gives Dhawan company while Khan and Kajol heat up the screen, and vehicles are reduced to their skeletons in slow motion. The trailer gives little of the plot away, but hints at a dark past for Khan’s character and a betrayal by Kajol’s character that sets the plot into motion. The ensemble cast includes Boman Irani, Sanjay Mishra, Johnny Lever, and Varun Sharma.
