One of the most interesting things about Katti Batti, starring Kangana Ranaut and Imran Khan, might be the first seven minutes. They’ve been shot by Ranaut herself.

"It's a seven-minute uncut sequence. I had to shoot it by holding the camera in my hands which was the demand of the script. It was nerve-racking, but actors can do anything for a director who shows trust and faith in their abilities. Nikhil (Advani) is one such director," she said in a statement.

But then directing isn’t entirely new to her. Ranaut has been dabbling in it for a while.

Earlier, when film critic and host of Film Companion Anupama Chopra interviewed actor Kangana Ranaut for a Masterclass session, what emerged from their chat was that Ranaut had written and directed a nine-minute short film titled The Touch. It’s about a little boy with healing powers.

A clip of the film was shown for the very first time to the audience, which included distinguished filmmakers like Ritesh Batra, Aanand L Rai, Sujoy Ghosh, Nikhil Advani, and Vidhu Vinod Chopra in the front row.

Ranaut explained that she wasn’t one to sit at home and wait for assignments. Instead, she went ahead and decided to do something with her time.

How much longer before she directs a full-length film herself?
