After undergoing a trial by fire courtesy the Central Board of Film Certification, Udta Punjab will be released on June 17 after all. As will be Dhanak, Finding Dory and Central Intelligence.

Udta Punjab Directed by Abhishek Chaubey and co-written by Sudip Sharma (NH10), this drama cross-weaves four narrative strands featuring four characters: a drug-addicted pop star (Shahid Kapoor), a low-level supplier (Alia Bhatt), a police officer (Diljit Dosanjh) and a doctor working with addicts (Kareena Kapoor Khan). The music is by Amit Trivedi, and the controversy that has raged over the censor board’s unreasonable demands for the removal of all references to Punjab tells us that an expose is on the cards.
