The highly publicised battle between Rahul Yadav, the enfant terrible of India’s startup scene, and his company Housing.com was begging for the fictional treatment. A report in the Times of India has suggested the possibility of a web series by online streaming service Amazon Prime.
Unnamed sources told the newspaper that Excel Entertainment, run by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, is behind the project, which will be launched next week. Sources also reportedly said that a senior executive from Housing.com had been contacted for details about the public spat.
A spokesperson for the Silicon Valley company denied knowledge of the web series, saying, “Amazon does not comment on rumours or speculation.”
Amazon Prime, which was launched in India in July 2016, has announced significant plans for local content to take on rival Netflix. Their budget for India is allegedly in the region of Rs 1,000 crores. The first of the original series, the cricket-themed Inside Edge, will be streamed from July 10.
