Rishi Kapoor has revealed the extent of the damage caused by the fire that broke out at his family’s RK Studios in Mumbai on September 16. In an interview with the Mumbai Mirror tabloid, Kapoor said that apart from the stage where Raj Kapoor’s iconic films, such as Awaara, Shree 420, Mera Naam Joker and Ram Teri Ganga Maili, had been shot, the Mera Naam Joker mask, costumes worn by heroines in RK Studios’ productions, from Awaara (Nargis) to Aa Ab Laut Chalen (Aishwarya Rai Bachchan), jewellery worn by Padmini in Jis Desh Mein Ganga Behti Hai and props such as spears and sabres were destroyed.
“This is probably why they say that one should never put all eggs in one basket,” Kapoor told the paper. “But for us, this was our father’s legacy, and it was a treasure trove.”
