This is legal drama that can put any show that may dare call itself dramatic to shame. Shonda Rhimes’s dark and fast-paced roller-coaster ride of a thriller just won its lead actress Viola Davis her first Emmy.

How To Get Away With Murder (on Star Premiere) is a show about Annalise Keating, a merciless, brilliant, and charismatic defence lawyer, and a group of her brightest students who get involved in a murder plot which seems to only thicken with every episode. Each of them has to apply what they learn in class to survive in the real world as secrets, mysteries and lies become an indelible part of their lives.

The show constantly flashes backward and forward hinting at disasters to come and backstories that were hidden so far, reminding the audience not to trust any of these ruthless characters. All of the drama is set against a new lawsuit everyday, which Annalise never loses.

Hiding their tracks, deleting evidence and removing witnesses from crime scenes while they work towards becoming defence lawyers, the group makes an unlikely set of friends who don’t even like one another most times. But they have each other’s back, whether they like it or not. Because a murder has been committed and they’re in it together. Thanks to the brilliant Annalise Keating.
