South Korean actor Kim Joo-hyuk, best known for his work in films like Jeong Yoon-soo’s My Wife Got Married (2008) and Hong Sang-soo’s Yourself and Yours (2016), died in a car accident in Seoul’s Gangnam district on October 30. He was 45 years old.

According to local reports, Kim’s car crashed into another vehicle before hitting the wall of an apartment building and tumbling down a set of steps. Firefighters pulled Kim out of the wreckage and took him to the hospital, but he died shortly thereafter.

The news comes just days after Kim won best supporting actor for his role as the antagonist in South Korean action film Confidential Assignment (2017) at the inaugural Seoul Awards on October 27.

News of his death was met with an outpouring of tributes and condolences on Twitter.
